Pakistan’s Imran Khan nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

Former Premier Imran Khan for Noble Prize

Islamabad, Pakistan: Former Pakistani Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, a Norwegian political group announced.

The nomination was put forward by members of the Pakistan World Alliance (PWA), who belong to Norway’s Partiet Sentrum political party, according to the group.

This is not the first time Khan has been considered for the prestigious award. In 2019, he was nominated for his efforts to promote regional peace, particularly between Pakistan and India. His decision to release captured Indian Air Force pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan in an attempt to de-escalate tensions was cited in a resolution submitted to Pakistan’s parliament.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee reviews hundreds of nominations annually before selecting the laureate through an extensive eight-month screening process.
