Imran Khan's sister Aleema Khan ID card blocked

NADRA blocks CNIC, passport of Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan

  • Court reissues non-bailable warrants after repeated no-shows in protest case

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has blocked the computerised national identity card and passport of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, following a court order over her repeated non-appearances in a protest-related case, officials told the court on Thursday.

During the hearing at the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi, presided over by Judge Amjad Ali Shah, NADRA submitted a report confirming that Aleema’s CNIC and passport had been blocked in compliance with the judicial directive.

The ATC had earlier ordered the blocking of her identification documents for skipping multiple hearings in the case related to the November 26 protest, in which she is among 10 accused. Despite repeated summons, neither Aleema nor her legal team appeared before the court, prompting the judge to issue non-bailable arrest warrants against her for the sixth time.

Special Prosecutor Zaheer Shah and other suspects were present in court, along with prosecution witnesses.

In a related development, the court also heard the case of Arif Khan, another accused who had taken custody of a vehicle used during the protest. As he failed to furnish the required surety bonds, the court ordered his imprisonment.

The hearing was adjourned after the court directed the prosecution to ensure compliance with its orders before the next session.
