WhatsApp Elevates Messaging with New Text Formatting Feature
WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging apps, has introduced a set of text formatting tools to elevate the messaging experience on its web client. The release follows the recent rollout of the “search message by date” feature for WhatsApp’s desktop version, and it is initially available to select beta testers.
According to WABetaInfo, a WhatsApp news tracker, the rollout comes after successful testing with a group of beta testers over the past few weeks. These formatting tools enable users to style their text messages in fresh and creative ways, offering more customization options.
The new formatting tools include:
Code Block: This tool is designed to facilitate sharing of code within WhatsApp messages. While it’s commonly used by software engineers and programmers, it’s accessible to all users for better highlighting and formatting of their messages. To format text as a code block, users can enclose the desired text within backticks (`).
Quote Block: The Quote Block is a useful feature for responding to specific parts of previous messages. Users can create a quote block by adding the “>” character before the text they want to quote.
Lists: Lists offer an organized way to present information. Users can create ordered lists by using characters like “*”, “-“, or numbers before their text.
According to WABetaInfo, these tools represent a significant improvement in enhancing the user experience when sharing text messages. They provide a professional touch to messages, enabling users to convey technical or detailed information with greater precision.
Initially, these tools were launched for iOS users, and they are expected to become available for Android users after further testing and refinement on the desktop version. WhatsApp continues to evolve its features and functionality to meet the diverse needs of its global user base.
